ProfitCon has always been a whirlwind of information, inspiration, and networking. This year, at the ProfitCon 2023 in Morristown, NJ, it was no different. This marked my seventh time attending, and although the novelty of the first few years has settled, the value I derive remains consistent. It’s always about those golden nuggets of insight that can genuinely pivot the trajectory of one’s business or personal development.
From Expert to Visionary: The Michael Port Experience
The highlight for many of us during the Mastery section was undoubtedly the keynote address by Michael Port, a former actor turned entrepreneur. With charisma and deep knowledge, Michael steered the audience into understanding the distinct difference between being seen as an ‘expert’ and being recognized as a ‘visionary.’
He emphasized that while experts are abundant, it’s the visionaries who captivate and hold the audience’s attention. Through the lens of the Aristotle story format and the ‘Bourne Identity’ example, he showcased the art of speech crafting. Witnessing real-time changes in some attendees’ presentations was nothing short of a masterclass.
I left Michael’s session invigorated, with my mind racing on how to refine my speech for the upcoming Mass Restaurant Association event. I’m also excited to dive deeper into the world of public speaking with Michael’s two-day intensive at Heroic Public Speaking.
Discovering the 3-3-3 with JJ Virgin
The other speaker that left an indelible mark was JJ Virgin. Although unfamiliar with her prior, her zest and radiant energy instantly captivated me. It was hard to believe she’s 60! JJ’s talk wasn’t just about looking good; it was about feeling strong and resilient, especially as we age.
She introduced the 3-3-3 method: 3 exercises, 3 reps each, done 3 times a week. The simplicity of this routine was a game-changer for me. After a hiatus from my regular, intense gym sessions, I’ve struggled to find a manageable reentry into the fitness world. JJ’s approach felt like the perfect bridge – something achievable yet effective. The day I got back home, I embraced the 3-3-3, and the results, both physically and mentally, have been astonishing.
